computer not showing up in Network Neighborhood

What OS do you have? I frequently see problems like this with Linux
systems that have dummy0 installed (SuSE comes to mind... ;-) If you
have it installed, remove it. In any case, put a correct 'interfaces
=' line into your [global] smb.conf section.
