-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
I have a MS Access database stored on a Samba Server (1.9.18p8). I have the
problem that two people cannot simultaneously access the file from Access
(on their NT4.0 SP3 Workstations) - Access complains that the file is being
used by someone else (which is true), but Access has the option of allowing
multiple people to access a database simultaneously (I believe). When I
store the file on an NT (4.0) workstation and share it the problem goes away.
I would like to know how to make Samba behave the same as the NT share.
Currently I have the following settings for the share (in smb.conf)
[access]
comment = Shared Access DB
path = /home/access
valid users = @access
locking = no
oplocks = false
strict locking = no
writable = yes
printable = no
I have played around a little with the locking parameters - locking, oplocks
and strict locking to no avail.
Any help would be very much appreciated - please CC any replies directly to
me as I am not on the samba list.
Andrew.
