	From previous experience, that sounds rather like the file
	locking code on the NT end...  

	In a previous life I could get the same symptoms from a 
	NFS server on Unix. The server was eaten alive by a group 
	of data-sucking clients, all of which used flock in hopes of 	
	coordinating what they were gobbbling (:-)).
