Samba server naming

Is it a problem if my Samba server Solaris sysem has the same name as our
workgtroup name?  It has been working OK, but a tech recently told me that
is a no-no under NT networking.  In other words, machine name PLANNING is
part of workgroup PLANNING.  OK or no?  Thanks.
