It is generally a good idea to know what you are talking about before saying
"Rubbish". RFC821 (in particular sections 2, 3.1 and 3.6) and RFC1123 (in
particular sections 5.3.3 and 5.3.6) would be good reading for you in this
case.

I'll give a more detailed reply in a private letter as this discussion
doesn't belong on this mailing list.
