I'm trying to implement a [%U] share instead of using [homes].
It turns out that the client cannot connect to the user's
home dir. What's going on here?
This is from smb.conf:
[%U]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = yes
create mode = 0750
path = %H/dos
guest ok = no
read only = no
writable = yes
On the server the logs produce the following:
NIS lookup succeeded
Home server length: 7
Allocated 19 bytes for HOMESHR
User = rob
UID = 2048
NIS result = beowulf:/usr/users/rob
HOMESHR = \\beowulf\rob
Clearing default real name
User name: rob Real name: Rob
Real name length: 3
Chained message
switch message SMBtconX (pid 1876)
checking for home directory rob gave /usr/users/rob
find_service() failed to find service rob

11/26/97 09:51:44 error packet at line 156 cmd=117 (SMBtconX) eclass=2 ecode=6

end of file from client
