smbfs reads Variable files incorrectly from VMS Samba 2.2.8

This is due to the fact that smbfs ALWAYS opens its files in Read/Write mode
(even when you "cat" a file, for example, and for the moment Samba/VMS deals
with variable record files only when in read-only mode.
