Thanks for the formatting fixes, I've accepted those by squashing them
in where appropriate, and re-pushed my branch.

On your questions, I've addressed those in each patch.

Thanks for your thoughtful consideration.  I hope to tidy up the
remaining patches shortly.

I've dropped the admin_session changes, as you are entirely correct, and
doing so helped me find other issues.
