ntlm_auth returns different answers based on smb / winbindd start order?

What kind of setup is this? Is this in an AD environment with Samba being a 
member of a child domain and the user coming from the parent domain? Could 
this be bug #6563 (https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6563) you're 
running into?
