Thanks for this.
Do you know if any other actions depend on the seek'd value (maybe
readbraw?)
or if any actions change the seek'd value
or maybe it's just used to truncate files in a hacky way?

I'm not so much interested in it's use but to make sure read-aheads dont
break something.
