group problem with samba pdc

Hi,

Problem is users in groups cannot write to the shares in which those 
users are listed as 'write list = user2, user2, user3' etc. The one 
thing I do notice is that using the 'net' command on one Samba server 
shows the groups as SERVERNAME/user1 rather than DOMAINAME/user1. 
Perhaps this has something to do with the smb: \> mkdir test
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED making remote directory \test

To be clear here, the dir 's right down from / are owned by root:staff 
and are 775 permission mode. Any help here is much appreciated.
