Not sure if you plan to keep the same shared object - dispatch table
registration process, but assuming so, the third party ID Mapper library
should be able to say what version of the interface it was coded for and
Windbind should be able to cleanly accept or reject that proposed
interface version.

The dispatch table could start with a version field.  That way Winbind
could support multiple versions of ID Mapper's simultaneously and have a
convenient place to keep track of which IDMappers are supporting which
interface versions.
