That will cause packaging problems.  The version in Samba has
been a mess for a long time.  Particularly the pre and rc releases.
The 3.0 series currently follows these rules:

* 3.0.x 		new production series
* 3.0.x[a-z]		patch releases
* 3.0.x[a-z].{pre,rc}Y	Preview/Testing & Release Candidate
* 3.0.x[a-z]-Z.VENDOR	Vendor patch releases

So I suggest that the 4.0 TP releases follow something similar like
4.0.0.alphaX.
