I *really* hate version schemes.  And I think I will patch my mail
client to hold hold outgoing mails for 5 minutes to give the
"I'm an idiot window" for messages like this one.

This really doesn't solve any versioning issues for package
maintainers because packaging tools seem to be really awful
at handling alpha/beta/pre/rc/test release numbers.

Therefore, this -- 3.0.x[a-z].{pre,rc}Y -- should remain as
3.0.x[a-z]{pre,rc}Y (just like we normally do it).  And let package
maintainers straighten things out for themeselves.
