I would rather do it on an as neede basis rather than
as part of the release process. It takes long enough
as it is. And then there's the multitude of
platforms/distros/versions that we don't provide packages
for....
I don';t think the the payoff would be that high for
the general commnuity. And most people here are ok
with building clean files.
Just my two cents.... Any package maintaiuner is free to
do what they wish. But uploading packages to samba.org
will cost us extra bandwidth.
