dns in stead off netbios

Hi,

I have to mount a samba-openldap for my society. I've got two question :

First, how can I use the DNS protocol during a name's nagociation in stead off 
netbios in smb/cifs on Samba ?

Then, How can I connect an XP workstation throught a samba/ldap domain with a
DNS ?

we've got many subnetworks and netbios is a very limited protocol so i have to 
migrate through the DNS. For example my domains controllers are behind 
switches.
