Good idea, but won't work.  I don't think.  The flags int is
last in the structure.  (oopss...see comments below).

Flags is not new.  It was in 3.0.11.  Looks like it was added in
r4970.  I'd be willing to move it this once since the released
version is not really in shipping code yet (unless vendors are shipping
a version of thatpatch anyways).  I can code it up pretty quickly and
give it a run.
