pam_smbpass licensing

Hi all,

I notice that pam_smbpass is licensed under the GPLv2. What are the
implications for using this on a system with some GPL programs and some
proprietary programs?

I'm a little confused, particularly in light of the lengths winbind goes
to to keep the client-sode code LGPL ..
