Samba 3.0 & OpenSSL

Hi!
I am having problems installing Samba3 on rh9

I have followed the thread found here with the title Samba 3.0 & OpenSSL

I have the same problems as yash, despite installing the reccommended
openssl096-0.9.6-24.

/lib/libcrypto.so.4 points to /lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7a
but there is no
/lib/libcrypto.so.2 nor libcrypto.so.0.9.6b ?!

rpm -qa|grep openssl returns
openssl-0.9.7a-2
openssl-devel-0.9.7a-2
openssl096-0.9.6-24

and glibc-devel-2.3.2-11.9 is in the list returned from rpm -qa|grep glibc.

if i try "rpm -u samba-common.... \ samba-3...." i get dependency errors for
libcups
libcrypto.so.0.9.7
libssl.so.0.9.7
liblber-2.2.so.7
libldap-2.2.so.7
libtinfow.so.5

the samba3 rpm package is samba-3.0.4-2.i386.rpm
samba-common is samba-common-3.0.4-2.i386.rpm

Any help would be greatly appreciated - i had wrestled with 2.2.7a
previously but had no end of troubles and went with the reccommendation of
many others to upgrade to samba3 so this whole samba saga seems to be going
on forever and i would just like it to work!!!!
