The need in general is a method of net vampire that doesn't take many 
hours to do a few thousand users.  Try it...a vampire of 1000 users took 
~2 hours whereas with tdbsam and /etc/passwd users it took 5 minutes.  And 
it gets much slower than that.

If you can get the users moved over, and then load them into ldap, it goes 
_much_ faster.
