browsing fails with changes for 127k READX calls, svn 4212

linux and AIX
I figure one has to go to svn 4212 to get everything associated with the 
127k calls.

torture tests passes
make check passes
net use * \\server\share will work
explorer with \\server\share will work
smbclient will work
but
Opening network neighborhood and attempting to browse the computer from 
2000 workstation or server will error with
  Array out of bounds

RTS and I give up.
