How can I gdb a vfs module

I have a vfs module which is not working well. How can
I gdb it. I did a gdb on smbd and couldnt get gdb to
debug past the fork. When I place a breakpoint in a
vfs module before a fork it does not work either.

I already have debug level turned onto 10.
