non-standard CPPFLAGS (at least) are dropped in configure.in

Hi, Richard!

I need the attached patch to configure.in to make configure find my 
ldap.h in /space/ldap/include using an explicit
CPPFLAGS=-I/space/ldap/include. Alexander tells me it's wrong, but for
me it works. Would you mind to take a look at it?
