have you tried unc path/other drive letter (for better analyse only)?

working with netlogon/profiles:
while this stuff is running, drive z: is unavailable under win9x that i know.
try to connect a share to z: during the time the logon-script runs, it doesn't work!
later via explorer-reconnect-feature all is fine again.
