hiya mike,

advice appreciated.

this is however a multi-stage "munge".  NamedPipes / DCE/RPC
is the convenient location, as i explained to andrew b.,
into which to insert the minimum-sized crowbar to create
the appropriate distance between SMB and DCE/RPC.

i'm posting small-sized patches with very abundantly obvious
minimal or zero impact that quite clearly is functionally
identical, plus guidelines on what's needed to be done
next.

such that, by the time all such functionally equivalent patches
are enacted, and all TODOs removed at that time, you will
know that nothing has been adversely affected, significant
additional functionality has been added, and no-one can
make any complaints neither on technical nor on non-technical
grounds for rejecting such modifications.

back to the usual programme: this is supposed to be a technical
list.
