strange log entries

Hello list!
I have a samba (2.2.1a) installation on a server (SuSE Linux 7.3, Kernel
2.4.10). The clients are working Win2k.
The users are reporting that sometimes writing and/or closing of a file is
taking a lot of time (between 10s. and 2min.). But no error occurs and after
a while they can work fine.
In the smbd log there are strange entries such as:
oplock.c: oplock_break (xxx)
... client failure in oplock break in file ...
reply.c: reply_lockingX
... Error: oplock break from client for num=... and no oplock granted on this
file ... (same as above)
oplocl.c: request_oplock_break
... no response received to oplock break request to pix ..., port ... for
dev=... inode ..., tv_sec ..., tv_usec
nttrans.c: call_nt_transact_ioctl
... currently not implemented
I found no explanation of this error messages.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thank you
Manuel
P.S.: The global section of my smb.conf file follows (output from testparm):
