There is another VMS guy on the SAMBA-TECHNICAL list?=0D=0A=0D=0AI do=
not know where this was originally posted. I have added the=0D=0Asa=
mba-vms list on this reply.=0D=0A=0D=0AI do not monitor samba(at)samb=
a.org list very often and only occasionally=0D=0Alook at comp.protoco=
ls.smb.=0D=0A=0D=0AAnd I tend to ignore non-plain text postings for a=
t least 24 hours, if=0D=0AI get to them at all. I get the SAMBA-VMS =
list in digest mode and an=0D=0AHTML posting basically forces me to s=
croll through pages of unreadable=0D=0Ajunk. So if you posted on a d=
ay t
hat someone trashed the digest in that=0D=0Away, it is possible that =
your posting was missed.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AMost SAMBA questions about =
OpenVMS usally end up on comp.os.vms AKA=0D=0Ainfo-vax or on the samb=
a-vms at samba.org.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AI posted a more detailed status a b=
it back, and that is in the archives=0D=0Aof the SAMBA-VMS mailing li=
st.=0D=0A=0D=0AAs of now, SAMBA-VMS needs people willing to get dirty=
doing builds and=0D=0Acoding. There seems to be no one admitting to=
doing so.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe latest I know of is 2.0.6 and it is on the =
OpenVMS FREEWARE
CD-ROM=0D=0AV5.0.=0D=0A=0D=0AFor downloads, see the OpenVMS homepage=
http://www.openvms.compaq.com=0D=0Aand follow the link to the freewa=
re CDROM.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ASAMBA 2.0.8 appears to be able to build on=
 OpenVMS 7.3, but since I did my=0D=0Abuild on OpenVMS 7.2-1, I could=
not complete it. One missing function.=0D=0A=0D=0ASAMBA 2.0.9 chang=
e does not get compiled in on OpenVMS. I do not know of=0D=0Aanythin=
g later for 2.0.x=0D=0A=0D=0AOn my home system, I can get SAMBA 2.2.x=
to fully compile and link, but it=0D=0Ais calling UNIX functions tha=
t I have not yet
implemented in FRONTPORT. I=0D=0Aput stubs in to get the compile an=
d link to work.=0D=0A=0D=0AAlso the new functionality, particualarly =
the TDB stuff needs to be=0D=0Atested.=0D=0A=0D=0AI also have RSYNC c=
ompiling and linking, but it is not functional because=0D=0Ait requir=
es some VMS specific tweaks, and the same changes I need for=0D=0AFRO=
NTPORT.=0D=0A=0D=0AI recently moved, and am slowly getting my systems=
at home running again,=0D=0Abut no high speed internet will be avail=
able for at least 6 months from=0D=0Anow, and every time I ask they k=
eep movi
ng the date outward.=0D=0A=0D=0A-John=0D=0Awb8tyw at qsl.network=0D=0APe=
