Win2000 professional and Samba ...

Hi,

well, some progress ...

Adding 

   encrypt passwords = yes
   smb passwd file = <a valid smbpasswd file>

allows Windows 2000 to browse the Samba server and all those things ...

I have asked David LeBlanc if he knows anything about any registry variable
that allows Win2K to operate in compatibility mode ...
