luke howard has written an nss_ldap module (getXXbyYY) which is good news.
he mentions in the README that he conforms to rfc2037.  so, yes, it's
probably a good idea to fit in with that (whatever it is :-)

and to make life easier, yes, a common schema-equivalent for NIS+ would be
a good thing.
