I still see constant streams of "I can't log on any more... does this
have anything to do with encrypted passwords" questions on both
the newsgroup and mailing-list.  

  This shouldn't happen.  
  For one thing, people should be smarter (:-))

  I wonder if there is a technical approach that might bring the
obvious to the attention of the unaware...  perhaps

	gronk = echo 'use Win95_PlainPassword.reg' | smbclient -M %z

  The above suggestion isn't **entirely** serious, but something
that intrusive might be warrented.
