Unable to authenticate users from PDC using winbind

cheers, that stopped the multiple logins questions, but removing password 
server, caused a core dump :-(

I think the problem is that it can list the users from the MMEBS domain, 
but cannot authenticate against it, as the replay from using:

wbinfo -a MMEBS+tmpuser%passwd
plaintext password authentication failed
Could not authenticate user MMEBS+tmpuser with plaintext password
challenge/response password authentication failed
Could not authenticate user MMEBS+tmpuser with challenge/response

and the output from: '/usr/sbin/winbindd -d 3 -i'  when i try to use the 
above is as follows:
