TNG: 0.7 need ".rhosts" ???

When attempting to mount a share from a W2K workstation connection to a different domain than that controlled by the samba server, I
can only connect if the user's home directory contains a ".rhosts" entry for the W2K workstation.  In 2.x, no entry was necessary.
In TNG 0.5, hosts.equiv worked.  Now, only .rhosts.

I'd be happy to provide additional info, but I'm not sure what is needed.
