I have the same problem with smbpasswd.
445 seems to be a port. what service ?
#grep 445 source/*
#rgrep 445 docs
no result !

I use ./configure --with-syslog --with-quota

May I miss a doc ?
does I forget --with-profile ? (I use [Profile] in my smb.conf)
