Does it make sense to create a system that prepends a known value to
each of the group names?

For example:

To UNIX, you have the user root and the group root.

To NT, you have the user root and the group g_root.

I envision a smb.conf entry like so:

nt group mangling = yes/no/always

no = never mangles and the sysadmin guarantees namespace uniqueness.

yes = mangles when there is a conflict.

always = mangles all group names wether they conflict or not.

By mangling I mean adding some know value to the front or back.
