compile problem with gcc 2.7.2.3 (ld sig 11)

Hi again.

I get a compile error (ld gets sig 11) with gcc 2.7.2.3 on linux 2.0.36.
When I compile with egcs it goes fine.. This comes when linking smbd, nmbd
and others. Anyone else get this, or am I having faulty hw?
