2.0.5a (compiled myself) on rh60.
Samba PDC for win9x.
I can change smbpasswd from Win9x if "unix password sync" is disabled.
If password sync is enabled it doesn't work; samba cannot even run the
chat (passwd chat debug is true but there is no chat in the log).
I could do it (password sync) in the past with a Caldera13/2.0.33.
While attempting to change the pwd with sync enabled I get:
[1999/08/31 20:55:33, 3] smbd/chgpasswd.c:chgpasswd(394)
Password change for user: go
[1999/08/31 20:55:33, 3] smbd/chgpasswd.c:chat_with_program(295)
Cannot Allocate pty for password change: go
[1999/08/31 20:55:33, 3] smbd/process.c:timeout_processing(828)
end of file from client
Don't know if it is related, but I compiled the kernel (2.2.12) with
UNIX ptys, but then I disabled them by renaming /dev/ptmx to /dev/ptmx-
(I want to have the option to use ptys without recompiling the kernel),
so that now I use standard /dev/tty.... and not /dev/pts...
