Update Encrypted?

Oh boy, you make one little change and everybody calls you!  Geez.  OK,
the situation is that I would like to get all my users' passwords into the
encrypted smbpasswd database, so I have the update encrypted = yes flag
and encrypt passwords = no.  But, the smbpasswd database doesn't seem to
be updating.  This is on Digital Unix 4.0D.  Am I missing something?
