Hi,

Is there any information anywhere about what specifically is broken with
the macOS-specific patch:

rsync-3.1.3/patches/hfs-compression.diff

It has been broken since rsync 3.1.3.


I searched Google and https://bugzilla.samba.org/  but couldn't find any
information regarding what is broken about this patch.


Both of the major macOS package managers, MacPorts and Homebrew, exclude
the patch currently in their rsync build control files, where they once
included it. But they do not say why.
