Are you sure that the file was corrupt?

You may have run out of free space, instead.

That incorrect "Success" message is from an old bug where rsync was
not properly reporting an "Out of Space" (disk full) condition.
This was fixed in 2.6.0 (Jan 2004).   Rsync is now at 2.6.8.
