Make error for Rsync 2.5.6 on HP-UX 11.0

I'm an new to rsync and am having the following problem:

On a HP-UX 11.0 server, I am trying to install rsync 2.5.6.  After running
configure, I run the standard HP make, but with the GCC compiler specified.
I get the following error.

lib/snprintf.c:760: conflicting types for `snprintf'
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/hppa2.0n-hp-hpux11.00/3.2.3/include/stdio.h:493:
previous declaration of `snprintf'
*** Error exit code 1

Has anyone seen this before and knows of a fix?
Should I load GNU make?
Is anyone using this version of rsync on HP-UX 11.0?  I can get version
2.5.5 to make and run properly!
What about 11.11?  Will rsync 2.5.6 compile and work there?
Finally, are there any HP-UX compiled depots for version 2.5.6?
