This is incorrect; sudo works fine on the laptop. I have installed K3B 
onto the latter. Then I tried to burn my Backup folder from a 
micro-Flash drive onto my blank CD-ROM. Getting the old error message: 
"cdrecord has no permission to open the device. Modify device settings 
in K3B to solve this problem.".

So I will re-read this thread, to find what to do, now on the laptop.
