or just "mount"

As previously suggested, using a Live CD (e.g. Knoppix MicroKernel) to
get us a copy of /etc/fstab would be very instructive.

But don't panic even if you've accidentally followed Windoof's
suggestion to format a Linux slice - it is recoverable.
