For a quick update:

I just called ASUS tech support, which was disappointing. They suggested:
1) Change the sleep and power management settings - this had zero
effect as the pad rebooted itself 2x while on the phone. Afterwards,
the thing just shut down.

2) Do a hard reset to wipe everything back to factory defaults &
reinstall everything again. If this doesn't solve it, return it to
ASUS for them to check over.


Going OT, has anyone ever tried returning electronics under the 'major
problem' classification here?

Obviously an immediate replacement is less hassle than returning the
pad and waiting weeks for ASUS to assess things...
