here's a challenge to CLUG crew:

  Can we rewrite/translate Martin Luther's "95 Theses" for FOSS??
  Even identify a useful subset?

Dan Klein started this with #5 and #88 in a 2004 Usenix/Lisa paper. It'd
be both a fun intellectual exercise and may also inform "Why we do what
we do".

[The previous slide has a nice pic of Linus as Martin Luther]

Two of the 95 Theses
“Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences”

#5	The pope has neither the will nor the power to remit any penalties
beyond those imposed either at his own discretion or by canon law.

==> No Licensing Fees!

#88	Surely a greater good could be done to the church if the pope were
to bestow these remissions and dispensations, not once, as now, but a
hundred times a day, for the benefit of any believer whatever.

==> Open Source is Good!
