=====================================================
Date: 23rd August 2012 (Fourth Thursday of the month)
Time: 19:00 - 21:00 (or when it finishes)
Speaker: Jamie Carl
Abstract:
Jamie will be presenting a talk on MongoDB.
MongoDB is a non-relational, open source,
document-oriented database server from a company called
10gen. Think PostgreSQL. Then think of what the almost
complete opposite would be. It is starting to get quite
a good production deployment base with companies like
Disney, SAP and MTV, and websites like Sourceforge and
Craigslist using it.
Jamie will be covering:
* Installing - Binary packages and building from source.
* Configuration - Getting MongoDB up and running.
* Overview - aka. MongoDB for SQLers.
* Basic CRUD - Create. Read. Update. Delete.
* Advanced queries and dot notation
* Server-side functions
* Replication and Sharding Theory
Come and find out what MongoDB is all about!
