CLUG Programmers' Special Interest Group Meeting - 13th January 2011
====================================================================
Date: 13th January 2011 (Second Thursday of the month)
Time: 19:00 - 21:00 (or when it finishes)
Speaker: Paul Wayper
Abstract:
This month, Paul hijacks the Programming SIG talk to
give his LCA tutorial on LMMS.
LMMS is a software synthesizer and music sequencing tool
for Linux and other popular operating systems. It has
its own instruments and can play samples, LADSPA and VST
instruments; it can also use LADSPA effects on all
instruments. It uses standard piano roll and drum
machine layouts for composing music, combined with a
powerful automation system for instrument control. It
comes with a set of music samples and instrument presets
but also allows you to create your own and use your own
samples.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to use LMMS's many
features to compose music. Bring along your own laptop
and headphones and you can follow along - this is the
format of the presentation for LCA.
