Hi all,

We've recently collected 1000 signatures on a letter to Senator Kim
Carr against software patents. The next step is to deliver a formal
petition to the House or Representatives.

Richard Stallman has encouraged us to collect petition signatures at
his speeches. If any of your are going tonight, perhaps you could
collect some for us? We had a table at his two speeches in Melbourne,
and collected about 220 signatures.

If you would like to help, this is what you would need to do:
 - print several pages of patent handouts and chop them in half
 - print the petition and several copies of the form (below)
 - arrive early to the speech to distribute the patent handouts
 - collect signatures on petition (bring pens and arrange a table)
 - post the original forms back to us (the address is on the petition)

The petition and handouts can be found here:
http://endsoftpatents.org/australia
Remember to take multiple copies of page 2 of the petition.

Your help will make a huge difference to eliminating software patents!

Cheers,
Alex
