If what you've said is accurate, I imagine you may have a statutory
right to a refund under the "goods must be fit for their purpose"
requirements of the Trade Practices Act.

As Bob says, if it works with Android then the kernel modules exist so
it must be possible at some level.

Is there any chance you can post the output of dmesg & 'lspci -v' from
Ubuntu?
