Indeed, and just because you don't like a topic doesn't make it relevant
and, well, topical....

Of course the problem with this statement is that initially Linux
_Users_ Groups had more to do with initiating the uninitiated and
helping them than technical discussion.  The technically inclined are on
the whole more likely to ping their topic of interest on Google and find
a specific mailing list/forum/blog/et cetera.  You can't expect everyone
on a LUG list to know how to operate a mail client any more than using
the account wizard and the buttons to send and receive emails.
