I don't think arguing on a single point is worth while.

unless this person is a decision maker or significant influence I wouldn't 
bother chasing up what may just be assertions that support their preference(or 
prejudice).

Presenting the pros and cons of all options with a recommendation to an 
appropriate decision make is probably the best way to get a decision to 
happen.
